The Social Security Administration gives millions of dollars in benefits every month to Americans who have met all the requirements for Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
Based on the payment schedule for the whole year, there will be three months this year when SSI payments will be double: May, August, and November. Most of the time, these payments are made on weekends or holidays. For example, if the first of the month falls on one of those days, the SSA moves the payment to the business day before.
Double SSI payments in May, August, and October will reach beneficiaries accounts next year
New news says that the Social Security Administration has confirmed that SSI payments will be doubled this year. Because people with low incomes are some of the most vulnerable people in the US, they need to know when they will get their monthly benefits so they can plan their budgets. Because of this, we would like to share the full payment schedule for people who get Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
SSI payments | SSI payments date | Advanced payment |
January | December 31st | January 31st (February 1st) |
February | – | February 28th (March 1st) |
March | – | – |
April | April 1st | – |
May | May 1st | May 30th (June 1st) |
June | – | – |
July | July 1st | – |
August | August 1st | August 29th (September 1st) |
September | – | – |
October | October 1st | October 31st (November 1st) |
November | – | – |
December | December 1st | December 31st (January 1st) |
You can see that the SSA will not send benefits in February, March, and November because those months fall on weekends. Also, it is important to note that Social Security payments are supposed to arrive in beneficiaries’ accounts on these exact dates.
If there is a problem with any of your payments, you should wait at least three mailing days before calling customer service. Do not forget that you can always go to My Social Security Account to learn more about your account and your social security in general.
How much money will the SSI payments deliver during 2025?
Since the cost of living adjustment (COLA) of 2.5% will already be built into SSI payments for 2025, recipients will get an average of $715. Those who applied for benefits as individuals or couples will get up to $967 and $1,450, respectively, as long as they meet all the income and resource requirements.
In addition to these monthly payments, there is another type for people who meet the requirements of an essential person (EP). If an SSI recipient meets the requirements for the EP category, they will get an extra $484 each month in benefits.
The Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program is one of the most important parts of Social Security. Another program that gives out millions of payments is the Retirement, Survivors, and Disability Insurance (RSDI) program. Based on the current rules for Social Security, these people will get the following amounts in payments in 2025:
Retirement benefits (2025) | Survivor benefits (2025) | SSDI benefits (2025) |
On average: $1,948
Age 62: $2,778 Age 67: $3,918 Age 70: $4,995 |
On average: $1,543
Individual: $1,817 2 Children: $3,744 |
On average: $1,575
Blind recipients: $2,655 Maximum payment: $3,918 |
Remember that people who get Social Security benefits must first meet strict requirements set by the agency in order to get the most money they are entitled to. Because of this, you should talk to an SSA expert about your finances so that you can improve your chances of getting this monthly payment.
Going to a Social Security office in your area is another choice. Be ready to show proof, such as proof of your assets, income, any medical conditions you have, and your identity.
Once they have looked over your application, the SSA will mail you a letter. You can call the SSA at the number above or go to My Social Security to see what is new.
