Cocktails can now be ordered to go again in North Carolina.

GREENVILLE, N.C. – For many people, ordering takeaway is the most convenient type of customer service.

Cocktails to go are officially returned after a five-year break due to COVID-19. Senate Bill 527 allows you to order a cocktail to-go through a restaurant’s ordering system or Doordash.

Sup Dogs originally offered cocktail to-go service during COVID-19, and they are eager to bring it back.

“It’s nice that people are over order food and maybe instead of spending 10, 20 bucks on food, they’re adding on an additional 510 bucks for a drink to go,” Bret Oliverio, the owner of Sug dogs, said. “So, it’s additional revenue for restaurants and, you know, I’m just glad that there’s processes in place that make things safe and gives restaurants a chance to make a little bit more revenue.”

When you purchase a cocktail to go, you must also order a meal. North Carolina is the 29th state to permanently legalize drinks to go.
