RALEIGH, N.C. – As people around the world celebrated the new year, several families in the Triangle welcomed new bundles of joy.
The Wintermeier family welcomed the first baby delivered at WakeMed Raleigh in 2025, a girl named Zoe, who arrived seven minutes after midnight.
A few miles away at UNC Health Rex Raleigh, a baby girl was born at 2:55 a.m., becoming the hospital’s first. The unit’s nurses greeted her with a brief party.
To kick off the new year, UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill offered a double dose of love. Twin boys Koa and Kai were born at 2:07 and 2:18 a.m., respectively.
The first infant of 2025 at UNC Health Johnston was a baby girl delivered at 2:25 a.m. A few hours later, UNC Health Rex Holly Springs welcomed its first baby of the year, a boy delivered at 5:11 a.m.
Amelia Autumn Winston, the first infant born at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Cumberland County, arrived at 2:20 a.m.
