There are various reasons why police officers may pull someone over for a traffic stop. It could be part of a bigger inquiry or the consequence of a traffic offense.
Unfortunately, many drivers attempt to avoid contacts with the police by leading them on a chase. This happened recently in Kansas, when an officer attempted to stop a speeding motorist.
Trying to evade a traffic stop is never a good idea
According to WIBW, a Jackson County Sheriff was on patrol when he saw a car entering and exiting the road lines. Furthermore, the driver was doing 122 miles per hour in a 65 mph zone, which is deemed reckless driving.
Naturally, the police officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver refused to pull over. Of course, this resulted in a police chase. This occurred close to 10 p.m. on December 27th.
The officer continued to try to stop the traffic. The driver eventually turned off his lights to blend in with the fog.
They resumed their search, and it helped that the initial police officer had obtained the driver’s license plate number and car type. They eventually found the man about 12:30 a.m.
Following the traffic stop, officers on the scene handcuffed the driver, Matthew William Adams, 39. They transported him to the Jackson County Jail, where he was charged with escaping and eluding law officers, careless driving, and other traffic crimes.
