According to footage, an Amazon delivery driver’s car collided with a Long Island home last week, and locals claim she fled the scene rather than reporting the incident.
In the video, filmed at a Commack residence around 8 a.m. Monday, the driver leaves a gift on the doorstep while her SUV rolls up the driveway behind her. She notices the out-of-control automobile at the last second, just as it crashes into the garage with a boom.
A homeowner who gave 1010 WINS with the doorbell video said it looked to be an accident, with the driver seemingly leaving the vehicle in drive.
“It looks like it was an honest mistake,” she told me. “It rained that day. She probably just wanted to get out of the rain and closer to the driveway.”
Although no one was wounded, the garage door was damaged by $2,000 as a result of the incident.
The biggest issue for the residents was that the driver had left without informing them.
“I think if she would have knocked on the door, left a note or something, we would have felt a little better about it,” the resident said, adding that the massive dent in the garage door was undoubtedly going to be noticed.
“Obviously, everyone has Ring [cameras] nowadays, and it was bound to like be figured out who it was, you know?” She said.
The residents reported the incident to police and Amazon.
