CHAPEL HILL, N.C. :- Though they did not win the $1 billion jackpot, two Mega Millions tickets sold in the Triangle served as large Christmas gifts for the happy players.
The North Carolina Education Lottery announced that one ticket purchased in Chapel Hill through Online Play won $30,000 in the big Christmas Eve drawing. It matched four of the drawn numbers as well as the yellow Mega Ball, winning $10,000, which grew to $30,000 when the Megaplier was activated.
Another ticket purchased in Wake County matched four of the numbers and the Mega Ball but did not include the Megaplier. According to the NC Lottery, the $10,000-winning ticket was sold at the Publix at 425 Emissary Dr. in Cary.
No one won the $1 billion Mega Millions jackpot on Christmas Eve, so the top reward for the next drawing on Friday night is anticipated to be $1.5 billion. That figure would make it one of the biggest jackpots in the game’s history.
The odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot are one in 302,575,350. The chances of winning any of the game’s prizes are approximately one in twenty-four.
