Troopers say five individuals died in a violent highway crash in North Carolina

Rutherford County, North Carolina—
The North Carolina Highway Patrol reports that five persons perished in a horrific incident in Rutherford County.

On Friday around 5:45 p.m., troopers responded to a collision involving two vehicles on Bostic-Sunshine Highway at Whiteside Road in Sunshine, North Carolina.

According to troopers, a vehicle heading north crossed the centerline and collided with another vehicle traveling south. Five persons died as a result of the automobile fire that occurred following the incident.

Troopers have not published the names of those killed at this time.

According to officials, neither speed nor alcohol are suspected to have contributed to the crash.
