On Thanksgiving Day, a neighbor shot and killed a Florida grandfather during an argument over loud music.
Hureleyon McLean, age 72, was killed on Thursday. According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, the gunman’s name is still being withheld as authorities continue to investigate the case.

The shooting occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. Broward County Regional Communications received reports of shots fired in the 2800 block of Somerset Drive in Lauderdale Lakes, which is about 32 miles north of Miami.
According to the South Florida Sun Sentinel, the gunman shot McLean in the head and remained outside a room with a gun in his hand. Deputies discovered McLean suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Deputies apprehended the shooter, who cooperated with investigators and claimed self-defense, according to officials. The Sheriff’s Office stated that investigators will present their findings to the Broward County State Attorney’s Office to determine whether criminal charges will be filed.
Rose McLean, Hureleyon’s wife, spoke with several media outlets about what happened during a Thanksgiving Day celebration.
“He was playing his music, and the guy said it was too loud,” she told WTVJ, a local NBC affiliate. “So my husband, he went down to him.”
She then stated that she had heard a gunshot.
“I heard it, and I just flew to the door,” she said. “When I look out, my husband was laying face down in the blood.”
She claimed she went downstairs and discovered the gunman standing next to her husband.
“He was just standing, looking at me with his gun in his hand,” she told local Fox affiliate WSVN. “And I approached him and asked, ‘Why did you shoot my husband? Why?’ And he told me, ‘If I didn’t shut my mouth, he’d shoot me too.'”
Rose McLean challenged the man’s self-defense claim.
“My husband didn’t have any weapons,” she told WTVJ. “My husband didn’t even have a knife on him.”
