A model from Florida shot and killed her husband before committing suicide earlier this week, according to authorities.
Sabrina Krasniqi, 27, shot and killed Pajtim Krasniqi, 34, on the couple’s balcony at their Miami apartment on Wednesday, according to police. Then she ended her life.
The incident occurred early in the morning, just after midnight, at the posh Beach Club Hallandale Tower II on South Ocean Drive in Hallandale Beach, a medium-sized coastal city.
Police say they responded to a ShotSpotter alert at 12:30 a.m., indicating that shots had been fired near the address in question.
According to the Hallandale Beach Police Department, five shots were fired in quick succession, followed by the shooter pausing before firing the sixth and final shot, according to Miami-based ABC affiliate WPLG.
The victim’s sister wrote on Facebook that her sister-in-law shot her brother five times in the chest, seemingly confirming the order of the double-fatality shooting.
“My Thanksgiving Eve wasn’t spent with my husband and children,” the bereaved sister wrote. “It was not spent with friends.
It was spent with police officers, detectives, and news reporters discussing my youngest brother’s brutal and senseless murder by his wife. Pajtimi’s wife chose to end my brother’s life by shooting five bullets into his chest.
Responding officers discovered a grim and gruesome scene both inside and outside condo unit 4508.
Both husband and wife were on the balcony floor, with pools of blood visible beneath and near their bodies.
Local media helicopter-mounted video cameras caught glimpses of the pre-holiday carnage.
The WPLG camera captured footage of a heart-shaped box, roses, and a teddy bear inside the unit, as well as a yellow tarp covering a corpse.
The camera owned by Miami-based Fox affiliate WSVN captured footage of a television still turned on and bullet holes in the glass door leading outside.
“Through the investigation, it has been determined that Sabrina Krasniqi fatally shot her husband multiple times before taking her own life,” police said in a press release obtained by NBC affiliate WTVJ in Miami. “The incident occurred within their shared residence.”
The couple also had connections to New York City.
The wife is said to have previously lived in the Queens neighborhood of Astoria. She worked as a model there under the name “Sabrina Dzaferovic,” according to WPLG. She was once featured in a “Inside Edition” segment about the prevalence of cat-calling in the Big Apple.
The killing shocked the community.
“I’ve never seen anything like this since I was a little kid,” a neighbor told WSVN. “It’s wild.”
As of this writing, authorities had not provided a motive for the murder-suicide.
Contacted the police department for more information on this story, but received no response as of publication.
“The person he trusted the most, the person he chose to spend his life with, was the one who took it away from him,” the victim’s sister added in her Facebook post. “She betrayed him—his love and trust. She devastated my family.
My siblings and I will never be the same. I’m terrified my mother will never recover. I will always love you, Pajtim. RIP.
