Texas police have arrested a woman accused of tying up a seven-year-old girl and locking her in a dog cage beneath a Christmas tree.
Rose Anderson of Houston is accused of restraining the seven-year-old with zip ties, duct-taping her mouth, and kicking her while she was locked inside a dog cage under a Christmas tree, according to local outlet 6ABC, citing court documents.
Prosecutors said the child urinated on herself and was trapped for several hours without access to food or water.
Click2Houston reports that Anderson is the seven-year-old’s primary caretaker. Anderson, 55, is a single mother who works three jobs, according to 6ABC.
Anderson appeared before the Harris County Magistrate on Sunday regarding the incident that occurred on December 13.
According to prosecutors, her motivation was to “discipline” the seven-year-old “for her behavior at school,” according to 6ABC.
According to People, she faces charges of child injury and unlawful restraint.
According to 6ABC, she is currently being held in the Harris County Jail on a $10,000 bond. Her next court appearance is set for January 6.
