After the Social Security payment on December 3, SSDI recipients who qualify will receive three more paydays. At the very least, if you received your disability insurance payment on December 3, you may still be eligible for an SSI check on December 31, 2024.
Those who have not yet received their SSDI payment could receive it on December 11, 18, or 24. Usually, these payments are made on the second, third, and fourth Wednesdays in December. However, the Social Security Administration announced a significant change this month.
Not all SSDI payments will be issued on Wednesdays
The Agency has confirmed that the third Wednesday payment is due on Tuesday. Because December 25 is a federal holiday, disability benefits will be sent the previous business day instead.
The remaining two SSDI payments will be delivered to eligible recipients’ accounts on Wednesday, December 11 and Wednesday, December 18. Remember that eligibility for these monthly payments is determined by your birth date.
To receive SSDI payments after December 3:
- disability payment due on December 11 if you were born from 1-10
- disability payment due on December 18 if you were born from 11-20
- disability payment due on December 24 if you were born from 21-31
Will you receive $1,542 from your next SSDI payment?
Every single recipient receives a different payment amount. This is because you may have worked for a specific number of years, your earnings may have varied, and the age at which you applied for SSDI may have differed.
Remember that a Social Security Disability Insurance payment can be as much as $3,822 in 2024. After the 2025 COLA increase, it will be $4,018. Obviously, this will be the maximum disability benefit for those who earned a lot of money while working.
The 2.5% COLA increase for 2025 will be issued on January 3, 8, 15, and 22. As a result, the 2025 COLA increase will not be reflected in any December payments. The average SSDI payment will be $1,542, but this does not guarantee you will receive that amount; in fact, it could be lower or higher.
