Not all Americans can earn the highest Social Security retirement or SSDI payments. SSI recipients typically have a low income and limited resources. Average checks and direct payments may be more realistic than enormous amounts that only a few can afford. For example, starting of November 2024, SSI compensation will be approximately $698.35 for all recipients, according to the SSA in December.
If you are under 18 and receiving SSI payments, you can get an average of $813.30 through Social Security. This age group has a higher average payment. Seniors above the age of 65 receive the lowest average SSI benefit. According to the Social Security Administration, they receive around $575.85. This could be because they also receive retirement benefits. SSI participants aged 18 to 64 can expect to receive an average of $744.73.
