The US Department of Agriculture and the Food and Nutrition Service will keep giving SNAP recipients their payments until December 28. Some people who get food stamps got their money as early as December 1, and some states aren’t even done giving out benefits yet.
Up to $517 will be sent by the state of Hawaii to a household of one. That means that people who qualify for SNAP can get up to that amount. Keep in mind that Food Stamps only pay out twice a year in this state.
When will Hawaii issue the SNAP payments in December?
The USDA says that Hawaii’s first SNAP payment was sent out on December 3 and the second payment is due on December 5. So, you can choose to receive on the third or the fifth.
People in Hawaii who got SNAP could get the December 3 payment depending on the first letter of their last name. People who get food stamps and whose last name starts with an A through an I will get their money on their EBT cards on December 3.
So, if your last name starts with a letter from J to Z, you will get your Food Stamp payment on December 5 in Hawaii. Just a reminder, the USDA says that Food Stamps will be available on January 1, 2025, for people who get both SNAP and cash, with direct deposit of cash.
Which other States send larger SNAP payments?
Hawaii is the only state that sends more Food Stamps than Alaska. Alaska, on the other hand, won’t get paid again until January 1, 2025.
Alaskans got their Food Stamps on December 1. Their checks went up to $586 for an individual, which is $69 more than in Hawaii. The next SNAP payments will also come from the US Virgin Islands on January 1, 2025.
Also, payments are higher in Guam than in the 48 states that are next to it. From now until December 10, 2024, Guam will send up to $431. Keep in mind that a person living in one of the 48 contiguous states or D.C., can only get up to $292.
