Two football coaches were killed in a terrible vehicle accident in New Jersey over the weekend, and prayers have been flooding in.
A catastrophic vehicle accident in Newark, New Jersey, killed six individuals on Friday night. The “explosive” car accident occurred after a vehicle went off the road and collided with a support beam. The automobile was heading south on Raymond Boulevard. It drifted off the road as it approached an onramp and became airborne. According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, the automobile collided with a Pulaski Skyway support beam and caught fire.
Six individuals were killed.
Tragically, two football coaches, Hudson Catholic’s head coach Lamar McKnight, 32, and assistant coach Brad Cunningham, 41, died.
Prayers are flooding in for the families affected.
“We are saddened to learn of the accident involving Brad Cunningham, Coach McKnight, and four others yesterday night. Brad Cunningham, a member of our inaugural recruiting class, lay the groundwork for the Rutgers football program. Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano wrote: “Our thoughts and prayers are with Brad’s family and the entire Hudson Catholic football family.”
The New Jersey football community is crushed.
“Devastating news in the NJ high school football world today: Hudson Catholic head coach Lamar McKnight has sadly died. Throughout his coaching tenure, McKnight inspired several players and young men. “Our thoughts are with his loved ones during this difficult time,” one fan remarked.
“I’m so sorry to hear of Lamar’s demise. He was a bright young star who was passionate about the game and his players. “Our condolences to the Hudson Catholic community and his family,” one fan said.
“Words cannot explain how shocked and saddened I feel right now. I’m grieved by the tragic deaths of my coaches.I aspire to live up to their expectations and make them proud. My life won’t be the same without them. “RIP, Lamar McKnight and Brad Cunningham,” a fan commented.
“We are grieved by the death of former football student athlete Lamar McKnight. He was the Grizzlies’ quarterback during the 2014 season. “Please keep his family and friends in your thoughts at this time,” Adams State wrote.
