As the holidays approach, law enforcement on both the state and local levels will be more visible on numerous roads and highways throughout New York. Police will be on the lookout for drunk or distracted drivers in an effort to keep the roads safe during peak travel season.

According to State Police, troopers responded to a 911 call at 12:54 a.m. about two guys sleeping in a vehicle at the intersection of State Route 208 and State Route 44/55.

When troopers arrived, they noticed a 2025 Dodge Power Ram pickup truck stopped at the intersection and a male “seemingly sleeping in the driver’s seat of the vehicle”. According to the report, the passenger in the vehicle looked to be sleeping on the passenger side.

The suspect was detained and taken to SP Highland for processing. According to police, the tired driver was processed and released, and he is set to appear in Gardiner Town Court in January.
