A Hannibal man recently arrested on an Onslaught charge also was charged with drug offenses as well.
On November 24, a witness reported to the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department that a male assaulted a female inside a vehicle at the Ayerco Truck Stop in Canton. The vehicle has fled the site. The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol responded to the scene, finally locating the culprit and victim in the same vehicle in downtown Canton.
Tayler D. Burgess, 24, was arrested for domestic abuse following a thorough investigation. Police discovered methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
On November 25, Lewis County Prosecutor Chelsea Fellinger filed official charges in the Lewis County Associate Court against Burgess, charging him with
Domestic assault in the third degree is a class E felony.
Possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) is a class D felony.
No valid driver’s license is a class D crime.
Unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia is a class D misdemeanor.
Burgess remains at the Lewis County Jail. A bail review hearing is scheduled for Monday.
