The SSA has certified a new SSDI payment for December 11, 2024. Some Disability Insurance users received a payout on December 3 due to receiving benefits prior to May 1997 or concurrently receiving SSI benefits.
If you do not qualify for SSDI on December 11, there will be two more checks, one on the third. To obtain Social Security Disability Insurance, you must have worked and paid enough payroll taxes. Furthermore, you must have a qualifying disability that fits the Social Security Administration’s rigorous definition of disability.
SSDI payment on December 11
To get SSDI on December 11, 2024, you must have been born between January 1st and December 10th, regardless of your birthday month. If you are on SSI or received benefits prior to May 1997, you will not be eligible.
Those born between 11 and 20 will receive Social Security Disability Insurance benefits on December 18. The disability compensation payments on December 11 and 18 will be made on Wednesdays.
However, the final SSDI payment for December 2024 will not be delivered on the fourth Wednesday. This is because Americans celebrate Christmas on Wednesday, December 25, which is also a federal holiday.
SSDI maximum and average amounts on December 11
Your SSDI benefit is calculated based on your work history and Social Security taxes. The SSA’s COLA data sheet indicates that average payments will be around $1,542.
A high-income person may receive up to $3,822, but this is improbable. Only individuals who earned the taxable limit for 35 years can get such a large sum from Social Security.
December SSDI benefits will not include the 2025 COLA rise. As a result, eligible claimants will have to wait until January 3, 8, 15, or 22 to get their new and updated payment reflecting the 2025 COLA.
