Hollywood hunk George Clooney is taking a six-month break from family life to perform in New York City, leaving wife Amal at home with the children… in the United Kingdom.

And his solitary move to the Big Apple while she raises the twins alone has raised some concerns among the couple’s pals, RadarOnline.com reports.

According to one Hollywood insider, Clooney is “an absolutely doting father,” so being away from seven-year-old Ella and Alexander for so long will be difficult for him.

“Of course, he will miss Amal tremendously. George’s hopes that the family would be able to make a long-distance living arrangement work for the duration of his New York stay will not be easily achieved. “Amal has her hands full with her work as a human rights lawyer, and the twins are in school,” says the friend.

“They won’t be able to quit everything and travel every other weekend, even with private jets at their disposal.

“George intends to travel back whenever his schedule allows, but it won’t be easy. Some regard it as a vanity move because he doesn’t need the money and spending time with his children as they grow up is clearly more essential.

“It has made some acquaintances question if it speaks anything about the state of their marriage. There has been chatter about a possible split. Whatever the circumstances, the next six months will be a test for them both.”

Clooney, 63, will make his Broadway debut in March. He turned his 2005 film Good Night and Good Luck into a stage play.

He’ll be in New York much sooner, however, because he has rehearsals.

The show is set to run until June, but if it is a success, it will most certainly be extended.

Returning to the stage is a dangerous choice for him, given that he has recently released a run of underperforming films, including The Boys in the Boat and Wolfs.

“Actors can really put their reputations on the line onstage,” our insider reveals. “Working in theatre is prestigious, but it’s high-risk so George’s friends are surprised that he’s agreed to take on the project.”

It’s just another decision that has people closest to the A-lister scratching their heads. In July, the actor wrote a daring new

The New York Times published an opinion piece urging Democratic President Joe Biden to resign from the 2024 presidential election, which he did.

Amal, 46, was bewildered as to why her husband meddled so purposefully in the US election, knowing it would result in an avalanche of condemnation.

“Amal generally prefers a more behind-the-scenes approach when it comes to politics,” according to our source.

“They haven’t been able to find much common ground when it comes to news and current affairs lately, and that has always been a big part of their relationship.”

Friends are hopeful that his Broadway run is a tremendous critical and economic success, and that he “gets his mojo back”.

The source further elaborates: “There is some concern about how he’ll cope if the play flops, especially as Amal won’t be directly on hand to help pick up the pieces.”
