Driving can be a very freeing experience. However, it can be quite harmful. This truth is highlighted in a recent tale about a young woman who fled a traffic stop and led police on a high-speed chase. Unfortunately, her actions resulted in several car wrecks.
Not only did she evade a traffic stop, but the driver reached extreme speeds
According to CBS17 News, North Carolina police officers attempted to execute a traffic stop on a motorist. The attempted stop was due to her speeding. Of course, she was later recognized as Evelyn Diaz-Lopez, aged 18. Despite their best attempts, she refused to stop, sending the police officers on a perilous chase.
According to reports, she reached speeds of 99 mph and then 150 mph when the officer attempted to stop traffic. Unfortunately, matters deteriorated when she caused two automobile accidents while fleeing from the police. These crashes caused damage to four vehicles, with the total cost estimated to be more than $1,000. Things don’t end here; she fled the site of both car crashes.
After the second of the two automobile accidents, the driver had to flee on foot. However, police officers were able to catch up and handcuff her. also not only gave a bogus identity, but also did not have a driver’s license at the time. After the attempted traffic stop, police officers accused her with:
- Fleeing/eluding arrest with motor vehicle
- Reckless driving with wanton disregard
- Failure to heed police lights/sirens
- Two counts of hit-and-run with property damage
- Resisting public officer
- Two counts of Speeding
- Fictitious information to an officer
- Failure to carry a valid driver’s license
Her bond was $200,000, and she will have a court appearance soon.
