A 15-year-old girl was found safe after North Carolina police issued an AMBER Alert regarding her disappearance .
Yesenia Denise Lopez was last seen at her Seven Springs home shortly after 11 p.m. Saturday, according to the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office on Monday afternoon. She was recovered safe shortly after the notice was sent out.
Police have yet to divulge any information, however they have thanked the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, the North Carolina Bureau of Investigation, and the FBI for their assistance.
The National Centre for Missing and Endangered, Inc. also responded on the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office’s notification, stating that they had shared the AMBER Alert with their network.

According to the Department of Justice, officials can issue an AMBER Alert if they believe an abduction has taken place and the kid is in imminent danger. AMBER Alerts are issued for missing persons who are 17 years old or younger.
According to the North Carolina Centre for Missing Persons, Lopez’s AMBER Alert was the only one active in the state prior to its cancellation.
The Centre reports that there have been over 13,000 missing people cases in North Carolina this year. Approximately 600 of these cases are still open, while 12,769 have been resolved.
The Centre reported that over 8,100 of these incidents involved adolescents.
According to the Centre, 11 occurrences this year have resulted in AMBER Alerts. Meanwhile, six cases necessitated the use of Ashanti Alerts, which are intended for individuals aged 18 to 64.
According to the Centre, North Carolina has had zero silver alerts (for those 65 and older) and zero blue alerts (for missing or endangered law enforcement officials) this year.
