A Kentucky father who owes more than $100,000 in child support has been detained following a Florida cruise, according to officials.

A Kentucky man who allegedly owes more than $100,000 in child support was detained after disembarking from a cruise ship in Miami.

According to The New York Post, Dominic Weaver, 47, was arrested shortly after stepping off a cruise ship in Miami, Florida, last week before being transported to Kentucky.

Jefferson County Attorney Mike O’Connell told WDRB that Weaver owes between $114,000 and $120,000 in child support, and that the suspect has been on the run for years.

“I don’t know when he left, but he fled the jurisdiction, and from the date of his sentence until today, and even today, he’s not paid one cent of child support,” O’Connell told the news organization. “”This is one of the most heinous incidents that bring anything to light that I’ve ever witnessed.”

Law and Crime said that the man was previously sentenced to five years probation for egregious non-support in 2019.

According to The Post, O’Connell intends to petition the court to overturn Weaver’s initial sentence and ensure his incarceration for up to four years.

The publication said that Weaver’s lack of assistance was so severe that his name appeared on a list of parents who owe a big sum of money for their children’s care in 2021.
