Morganton, North Carolina — A furniture manufacturer in western North Carolina will lay off 121 employees this week, according to state officials.
Morganton-based EJ Victor informed the North Carolina Department of Commerce on November 15, and the adjustments will take effect Friday, November 22.

The company has been in business since 1990 and produces high-end furniture featuring designs by Alfredo Paredes, Browne & Moore, and Allison Paladino. It also has a showroom in High Point.
The Commerce Department also revealed that the state’s unemployment rate declined by 0.1 percent in October to 3.7 percent. However, the number of individuals employed is down 763 from the same month last year.
