A Maryland man was arrested with 80 firearms, including multiple 3D-printed 'ghost guns,' following a domestic assault incident

A Maryland man was arrested five days after officers discovered 80 guns, gun-making supplies, and a 3D printer in his Lexington Park home and car. According to authorities, Jerod Adam Taylor had a colorful collection of weaponry, which were located at the 20000 block of Goddard Road. The guns included automatic machine guns, semiautomatic rifles, shotguns, and handguns.

According to authorities, the majority of the firearms discovered were ghost guns, which means they were unregistered and manufactured without serial numbers. Not only were the guns unlawful because they lacked a serial number, but Taylor was also prohibited from possessing firearms owing to a previous arrest warrant for theft.

“On November 8, 2024, Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division executed search warrants for the residence and nearby vehicles,” municipal officials said in a statement.

“The search yielded an extensive collection of weapons, including multiple 3D-printed “ghost guns” without serial numbers, semi-automatic rifles, handguns, shotguns, an AK-47 semi-automatic rifle, and an assortment of firearm components.”

“Additionally, deputies recovered numerous large-capacity magazines, 18 suppressors, 74 auto sears (devices that convert semi-automatic firearms to fully automatic), over 1,300 rounds of ammunition, body armor, a 3D-printed, fully automatic rifle equipped with an auto sear, a short-barreled rifle, 3D printers, and various gun manufacturing tools,” according to a statement. “A total of 80 firearms were recovered from the premises.”

Police stated on X that “Taylor has not been located and should be considered armed and dangerous.” They further stated, “He is 39 years old, a white male with a fair complexion, brown hair, and brown eyes, stands 5’10” tall, and weighs roughly 150 pounds. If you see him, do not approach him; instead, immediately contact 911.”

According to CBS station WUSA, police discovered the firearms when they were summoned to Taylor’s home on Thursday for a domestic assault investigation. Authorities first indicated that Taylor had fled the site before the police arrived. Unbeknownst to Taylor, officers had been monitoring his home since the initial report and were able to catch the man when he returned later that night.

“Taylor was taken into custody without incident and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown, where he awaits his bond hearing,” a St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office official stated.

The individual was charged with a variety of offenses, including illegal possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of an assault weapon with intent to sell, and failure to maintain registered possession of a machine gun.

The arrest comes after a North Carolina father fatally shot his own daughter after opening fire on a car carrying five other people. On Sunday, Maxton police arrested Dedric Page, 31, and charged him with first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, shooting a firearm into an occupied car, discharging a firearm within city limits, and felon in possession of a firearm.
