According to federal prosecutors, a Missouri woman was kidnapped and murdered by her twin sister’s boyfriend after he discovered a $40,000 settlement she was holding for their brother.
Samantha Hampton told local NBC affiliate KSDK last week that she had no idea who killed her sister Michelle Hampton when asked about the November 20 slaying. But she didn’t believe it was a coincidence.

“No, I don’t,” Samantha informed the station. “I don’t think it was random.”
Michelle Hampton, a Clayton, Missouri, resident with $40,000 in her bank account from an undisclosed court settlement that she was holding on behalf of their brother, was allegedly kidnapped in front of Samantha Hampton’s eyes, with cops claiming she tipped them off and told them she suspected her own boyfriend, Anjuan Mosby, was behind the abduction.
According to Samantha Hampton, the 43-year-old learned about the settlement before Michelle Hampton’s disappearance and allegedly went missing on the same day.
According to court documents, the surviving twin expressed fear of returning home after her police interview because she believed Mosby was involved in Michelle’s kidnapping. She claims to have witnessed two men wearing masks kidnap her sister from her Clayton home.
According to prosecutors, Samantha Hampton had no idea at the time that Mosby had kidnapped Michelle Hampton and murdered her after attempting to withdraw money from her bank account.
The two were allegedly caught on surveillance tape driving around with another suspect, Emmanuel Suarez, 36, who is accused of participating in the kidnapping and accompanying them to PNC Banks to make withdrawals.
According to prosecutors, a teller at one PNC Bank declined a $10,000 transaction and gave them only $2,000 instead.
Surveillance footage from another PNC allegedly shows the trio striking out again after an employee asked them to come inside and complete the transaction.
Michelle Hampton was seen on video being let out of the yellow Ram truck they were all riding in and into an alley, where she was shot to death.
Mosby later told police that he released Hampton after attempting to withdraw money from several ATMs between Clayton and St. Louis. According to court documents, he claimed to have given her a chance to flee before shooting her.
Cops were able to track down Suarez using surveillance footage, which allegedly captured him and his Ram truck before and after the kidnapping.
DNA tests also linked him to Mosby after investigators discovered clothing they had abandoned, according to court documents.
Authorities have charged Mosby and Suarez with first-degree murder, robbery, and kidnapping. Mosby also faces a federal charge of kidnapping that resulted in death. He’s pleaded not guilty.
