ROCKINGHAM — More than $900 was raised for the American Cancer Society at the fourth “Walk for a Cure” on Saturday.
The manager of the Richmond County Cancer Care Treasure Shop, Heather Guinn, said that 45 people walked from the shop to Walmart and back.
Guinn said that event alone made $981, and the store will keep collecting until the end of October, which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
To help Relay for Life, the Treasure Shop started in 2018. Before the walk and concert in 2023, owner Rodney Gandy told the RO that his charity had raised $100,000 in the five years before the event.
Guinn said that there are plans to bring back Relay for Life in Richmond County. In early 2025, there will be a meeting for people who want to help.
Anyone who wants to know more should call Gandy or Guinn at 910-817-9342.
