In New York State, the cooler fall air has not come yet. However, we all know that snow and cold weather will arrive at some point, and with them, the flu and cold season.
Did you get your flu shot yet? You might want to make a plan or talk to your doctor to make sure you are ready for the long winter and all the germs that are floating around.
But looking at the past, when does it seem like the flu gets the worst here in New York State?
The flu may still make you feel bad, even if you take vitamins, drink water, and try to get as much fresh air and movement as you can. It has been stated that there are a couple of weeks each year when more people get the flu than usual. This information comes from the New York State Health Department.
The most cases were found in the first few weeks of December in both 2022 and 2023. On December 17, 2012, there were almost 51,000 reports of flu cases. On December 30, 2013, there were over 30,000 reports.
In 2024, there were about a thousand cases of flu at the end of the season in May.
When November comes around and it gets cool and damp, the flu will be back. This flu season, many of the doctors we talked to said it’s not a big deal yet. As of the last week of October, our child’s doctor told our family that they haven’t seen any flu.
