HOFFMAN — A correctional worker is being charged with a crime because they are said to have tried to bring drugs into the local prison without permission.
The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says that deputies were sent to Richmond Correctional Institution on September 28 because a supervisor said that a jail worker was found with illegal drugs when she got to work.
Bianca Leshay Bullock, 29, of Wadesboro, is a correctional officer who allegedly set off a scanner. The following was found in her underwear, according to staff:
- 4.5 grams of marijuana in separate baggies (2.1grams and 2.4 grams)
- 73 suboxone strips
- A white paper-like object suspected of being “Spice”
- Two packs of a “red jelly liquid”

Bullock was caught and charged with three felonies: one count of simple possession of a Schedule III controlled substance, one count of simple possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance, and criminal possession of a controlled substance in a prison or jail.
The sheriff’s office says Bullock was freed on a $25,000 bond that was not secured. She has a court date set for October 17.
Several news sources say that in August, a jail officer in Greene County was charged after being caught with K2, which is a synthetic marijuana product also known as spice. In July, another officer in Lee County was charged after being caught with more than 2 pounds of cocaine.
People who are being charged with a crime are thought to be innocent until they are found guilty in court.
