Law enforcement sources say that a dead baby was found dumped in the bathroom of a restaurant in the Financial District on Monday morning. The police are now working hard to figure out what happened.
Police and sources say the child’s body was found in the bathroom of Sophie’s Cuban Cuisine on Fulton Street near Gold Street downtown just before 10 a.m. The child’s gender and age were not known at the time.
Authorities say that when police arrived at the scene of the 911 call, they found the baby asleep and not responding.
Paramedics said the baby was dead at the scene, according to the police.
A mom in the area told The Post, “It’s horrible—it’s a baby.” I think it’s someone who had no other choice. It’s likely that they’re desperate.
She said, “This kind of stuff usually means there’s a problem with the system.” “What makes a mother of a baby want to do that so badly?” Why would she think that’s the only thing she can do?
“That’s awful.” That really didn’t happen, I swear.
Ali, who works at a nearby deli, told police that he gave them security video from his place of business.
“They asked for video from a camera in this store area…” Ali said, “to see who just walks in and who isn’t, like, the person who dropped the baby or something.” “I have no idea.”

A woman who said she was the assistant manager at Sophie’s said that the police let the place stay open.
“We don’t know anything right now,” she said. “The investigation is being done.” We have no idea.
The baby’s death is being looked into, and it wasn’t clear right away if illegal activity is being considered.
So far, no one has been caught.
