This month, 4 Social Security checks will be sent out based on the October SSDI payment plan. People can only be qualified for one of them, of course. Unless they also get SSI at the same time, which is a different program paid for by the Federal government.

SSDI payments are only given to workers who have a qualifying condition that keeps them from working for more than a year. Also, they had to file, get approval, and work for at least the necessary number of years. Usually, 10 years is enough, but it could be less.

When will SSDI recipients get money from Social Security first?

The first pay cheque that the Administration has set for October 3rd. Just so you know, this is not the date you will get paid if you started getting benefits after April 30, 1997.

On October 9, 16, and 23, SSDI will get paid three more times. Now, let’s look at who can get the disability payment on the third level and the Wednesday payouts.

  • Disability Insurance direct deposit on October 3: on benefit before May 1997
  • Disability Insurance direct deposit on October 3: recipients of both SSDI and SSI (Supplemental Security Income)
  • Disability Insurance direct deposit on October 9: birthday from 1-10 of any month
  • Disability Insurance direct deposit on October 16: birth date from 11-20

SSDI maximum and average amounts in October

Up to $3,822 is the most that Disability Insurance will pay out. Still, you can only get this big payment if you made the maximum amount of tax for 35 years, filed as late as SSA lets you, and had jobs that were covered by the Administration.

Not only people who receive SSDI, but also some family members can also get payments. For instance, the recipient’s husband and children may be able to get monthly Social Security checks.

  • $1,539 for workers with a disability
  • $421 for spouses of workers with a disability
  • $492 for children of workers with a disability
