People who get Supplemental Security Income will get their next payment on October 1. People who get SSI are always the first to get money from the government.
Also, it won’t be long before the Social Security Administration sends up to $4,873 in retirement benefits. The date that retirees will get their direct transfer is October 3.
SSI and Social Security payment eligibility for October 1-3
To keep getting SSI, you have to keep being qualified. For instance, if you make more money, it might change your status and the amount of money you get each month. Getting married is another thing that could make or break your SSI funds, so let them know about any changes right away.
SSI is only for people who:
- are aged 65 or older
- are blind
- have a qualifying disability
- both children and adults may be eligible
Supplemental Security Income payouts are based on these needs, but Social Security retirement benefits are not at all like that. To get benefits when you leave, you must:
- be at least 62 years old
- have worked for a minimum of ten years
- have earned at least 40 Social Security or work credits (a maximum of 4 per year)
- filing for retirement benefits is mandatory
- approval is also necessary
You must have been getting Social Security since before May 1997 or SSI at the same time in order to get retirement payments on October 3. This means that some people who get SSI will get two payments in the first week of October.
SSI and Social Security retirement benefit amounts
Up to $472 is the most an important person on Supplemental Security Income can get. Up to $1,415 can be given to married people who are both qualified.
In the middle, people can get $943. These maximum amounts will remain the same until December 31, 2024. In that case, the COLA increase will start to work for these people.
People who retire and meet all the strict requirements for high earners, like filing at age 70 or working for 35 years and getting tax breaks and benefits, can get a monthly payment of up to $4,873. Most of the time, that will be about $1,919, the SSA said in August.
