Trevor Carroll Appointed as New Division Engineer for NCDOT's Southern Coastal Region

Trevor Carroll has been officially chosen as the new Division Engineer for Division 3 by the N.C. Department of Transportation. He will be in charge of the southern coastal counties of the state. Carroll is taking over the job after Chad Kimes retired on August 30 after working for the NCDOT for more than 30 years.

Kimes was a longtime employee of the department. “It is an honor to serve our citizens and work alongside a dedicated team,” Carroll said, according to the North Carolina Department of Transportation.

Carroll is not new to the world of transportation. He has worked in the business sector before joining NCDOT in 2010. He has worked his way up in the department since getting his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering Technology from UNC Charlotte.

Before being promoted, Carroll was Deputy Division Engineer, a position where he likely had a lot of power and contributed a lot to both building and maintenance projects.

Carroll is now in charge of a number of current projects in Division 3, which includes the counties of Brunswick, Duplin, New Hanover, Onslow, Pender, and Sampson. People expect him to keep going in the same direction as his predecessor, which is supposed to improve the transportation network in this seaside area.

Since problems like coastal erosion and hurricane damage are always at the top of the list, Carroll’s job has both a scientific and a social-environmental importance.

It’s important that Carroll gets the job because infrastructure is a big part of North Carolina’s business and social well-being. NCDOT hopes to solve new transportation problems well by picking someone who really knows the area and knows what its specific needs are.

“I look forward to continuing to improve our transportation network,” Carroll said. This shows that he agrees with the department’s goal of moving forward.
