The Haunted Attraction Association named two North Carolina haunted houses among the best in the nation. I like that the Haunted Attraction Association is the only recognized haunt industry association, so they know their stuff. They certify U.S. haunts as “Top Haunted Attractions.”
To receive that certification, haunts must be HAA members and meet 10 criteria that support the association’s objective to “protect customers, promote haunted attractions and educate industry professionals.” Haunted houses are a fall favorite. If you want to be afraid, check out these haunted houses.
North Carolina Haunted Houses
Haunted mansion has a long history. The Smithsonian Magazine states, “The haunted house originated in 19th-century London, when illusions and attractions introduced the public to new forms of gruesome entertainment.”
In 1802, Marie Tussaud shocked British audiences with wax sculptures of decapitated French icons such King Louis XVI, Marie Antoinette, Marat, and Robespierre. A haunted house is a house where supernatural events are thought to occur. Haunted houses are said to have ghosts.
Haunted attractions are lucrative. America Haunts specialists say over 1,200 haunted attractions charge admission. We estimate that around 300 amusement facilities, such as amusement parks and family fun centers, host Halloween or Haunted House events.
Finally, local charities run over 3,000 attractions for one day on Halloween or one or two weekends in October.
The Haunted Attraction Association ranked The Haunted Farm at 624 Townsend Road in Hendersonville among the best North Carolina haunted houses. They say “The Haunted Farm sits on a mysterious, blood-soaked stretch of land where the locals claim an age-old Blood Feud between the Lively and Tate families has devastated the local farming community.”
Visitors from near and far hope to survive The Haunted Farm’s curses, derangements, undead, spirits, and awful slaughter. Another North Carolina haunted home is Woods of Terror at 5601 North Church Street in Greensboro. They claim 175 employees “make the production a success year after year.” Let me know your favorite spot.
