On September 18, 2024, the Social Security Administration will send seniors a new payment. The people who get SSDI will get their money from the Agency on the same day.
It’s possible for Americans who worked the hardest and made the most money to get up to $3,822 if they retired at Full Retirement Age in 2024. This is the most that SSDI can pay, but not for seniors.
SSDI & retirement payment within 24 hours
The Social Security Administration may send a big check to hundreds of retirees and people who get SSDI in just 24 hours. SSA always checks to see if receivers meet all the needs.
Check the following information to see if you are eligible for the next payment of SSDI or retirement benefits in September:
- On Social Security (Disability Insurance or retirement) after April 30, 1997.
- Not receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
- the recipient meets the birthday requirement
- born from 11-20 payment on September 18
- born from 21-31 payment on September 25
Eligibility for a Social Security payment worth $3,822: SSDI & Retirement
If you didn’t make a lot of money before you applied for Social Security, you won’t be able to get a $3,822 payment. This payment is only for workers who made the most in taxes for 35 years.
Remember that the most you can earn that is taxed in 2024 is $168,600, and it keeps going up as COLA does. That makes it even harder to reach. This is the reason why so few Americans get $3,822 when they retire or get SSDI.
So, if you worked for 35 years, filed at Full Retirement Age, and had SSA-covered jobs, you could get $3,822 in September or October as a retirement payment.
No changes will be made to the amounts of SSDI or retirement benefits until December 2024. It won’t be until January 2025 that everyone in the United States will start getting the new COLA raise.
