GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) —North Carolina is now a city. Following the decision by the N.C. Supreme Court to take Robert F. Kennedy off of the state’s election ballots, all 100 counties will have to print their postal ballots again.
The start of mail-in voting will be pushed back. Police in Pitt County said last Friday that they were ready to send out more than 1,000 votes, but they are now waiting for the new ones to arrive.
The choice not only makes the distribution take longer, but it also costs each county a lot of money. “There were not only absentee ballots, but also early voting ballots that had already been printed,” Pitt County Director of Elections Dave Davis said. “It will probably be based on previous estimates, maybe about 18,000 new ballots.”
The State Board of Elections said that counties can’t send out ballots until every county is ready to do so. This is to make sure that all of the ballots are sent out at the same time.
