The last night of tennis for Lady Raiders

ROCKINGHAM — Thursday was the first senior night of the 2024 fall sports season. It took place on the tennis fields at Richmond Senior High School.

The six seniors on the Lady Raider tennis team were honoured for their hard work and contributions to the school. They are Madison Grimes, Megan Harris, Kenleigh Parker, Kaylin Sanders, Hanna Smith, and Ava Thompson.

Grimes, Smith, and Parker have all played for the team all four years of high school. Parker has only played for the last three years.

Harris, Sanders, and Thompson all played on the court for the first time this season.

Head coach Jessica Covington said, “Senior night is always fun because we get to honour our players.” “Many of them have been in our program since their freshman or sophomore year, which shows how dedicated and hard-working they are.”

“Even the three new members this year have made a huge difference and improved a lot,” she said. “I know that the rest of the team and I will miss them. Good luck with whatever you decide to do after high school.”

Covington introduced each player and her friends gave them a gift basket. Some of the younger players talked to the older players and shared stories.

After, the Lady Raiders played Hoke County High School at home. They were trying to end a three-game losing run.

When the full results of Thursday’s game are ready, the Richmond Observer will post an article with them.
