Russell’s First Alert: A mild and crisp start to the week

Russell's First Alert A mild and crisp start to the week

This week, cooler and drier air will settle over Eastern North Carolina. Put on a light jacket and enjoy the change of pace! Because of a strong high-pressure system, high temperatures will stay in the 70s and low 80s.

The skies will gradually clear up in the evening. Overnight, it will be cool and crisp, especially in the middle of the country where temperatures could drop into the low 50s. The coast will have a little more cloud cover, but even there, the lows will be cool for the time of year in the 60s.

For the rest of the week, the cool, dry air will stay with us, which is great for early fall. But don’t calm down too much yet! A developing tropical storm will likely stir things up along the Gulf Coast and parts of the Southeast US by the end of the week. This could lead to more rain in Eastern North Carolina.
