Roll Call: 5 Raider football players were named stars of the week

Roll Call 5 Raider football players were named stars of the week

ROCKINGHAM — The Richmond Senior High School football team has chosen its five players of the week for the past week of games.

As part of a new plan by head coach Brad Denson and his team, Richmond will honor a small group of varsity players every week.

With help from Top Guns Strength and Performance Gym, the Raiders will pick “players of the week” for offense, defense, special teams, practice, and the weight room.

Each player was given a t-shirt from Top Guns as a thank-you gift.

Richmond’s third game week is over, and they lost 31–13 at Cardinal Gibbons High School. Here are the stars of the week:

Offense: Keyonta Davis (senior wide receiver)

Defense: K’Mauri Morgan (senior linebacker)

Special Teams: Billy West (senior kicker)

Practice: Lashon Goodwin (senior defensive back)

Weight Room: Lincoln Smith (senior offensive lineman)

Michael Morgan got his second award. He was also given the name after Richmond’s game against Seventy-First High School in Week 1.

Denson and the coaching staff choose the Raiders’ players of the week by looking at what each player did and how they contributed during the week of practice and on Friday night.

Richmond (1-2) will hold its last non-conference game Friday at home against Myers Park High School (1-2). The game will start at 7:30 p.m.
