ASHABORO— Richmond’s volleyball team continued to have trouble while they were off from Sandhills Athletic Conference play on Wednesday.
The Lady Raiders lost their fifth straight game, this time to Uwharrie Charter Academy in straight sets (14–2).
The team had also been shut out four times in its last five games before the 3-0 loss.
The Lady Eagles won by scores of 25–11, 25–11, and 25–16.
The Lady Raiders (5-7, 1-4 SAC) will have a long break before they play again next Tuesday.
Scotland High School (5-2, 1-2 SAC) will be the opponent in that home game. It will be the last game of the first round of regular season conference play. The first serve is at 6 p.m.
Third set blues continue for JV Lady Raiders
The JV Lady Raiders forced a third set Tuesday in junior varsity play, but they couldn’t close the door.
Richmond also lost 2-1 at Uwharrie Charter Academy, which was also on the road.
The scores were 17-25, 25-17, and 7-15 for each set.
Head coach Melissa Dennis said, “We passed the ball much better tonight and didn’t miss a serve.” “We just didn’t have the drive to finish.” A lot of plays were made by Uwharrie, who was big at the net.
The junior varsity volleyball team has a home game next Tuesday against Scotland (5-6, 2-3 SAC). Things will start at 5 p.m.
