Police in Toledo say a man was arrested for pointing a gun at kids and calling them racial slurs

Police in Toledo say that a man pointed a gun at kids, called them racist names, and then threatened police.

On Monday, 64-year-old Arthur Whitcomb III of Toledo was arrested on four counts of Aggravated Menacing. One of the counts is a first-degree misdemeanour, and the other three are fifth-degree crimes. According to the charging papers, the crime was more serious because it was an act of ethnic intimidation.

Around 3:30 p.m. on September 23, police were called to the 2000 block of Talbot for a weapons call. Police say he pointed a gun at a group of three kids between the ages of 14 and 15 and “yelled about the victim being a n****.”

Affidavits also say that he talked about violence and anger many times in front of police officers. He then told one officer that he would “remove my qualified immunity and put me in the ground,” which was written down by police.

One of the charges against him was Aggravated Menacing, and a judge set a $10,000 bond. He was in court Tuesday morning. Besides that, he was told not to talk to the kids concerned.

Whitcomb has to go back to court on October 2.
