Officer shot ‘multiple times’, critically injured after North Carolina traffic stop

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police are looking into a shooting in south Charlotte that involved a police officer.

Police were called to the 8900 block of E. Arrowood Road for an attack with a deadly weapon.

Police tried to stop a possible suspect’s car for speeding, but the suspect pulled out a gun and started firing at the police.

Officials from the CMPD say that a suspect and a cop were both hit by gunfire. Officials told the press that the cop was shot several times and has very serious injuries.

Both were taken to the hospital because they were hurt. As a safety step, another police officer who was involved in the shooting was taken to the hospital.

Police say they found a gun at the scene of the crime.
