CHARLOTTE, N.C. – What a quiet weekend! The start of the work week is going to be wet and windy.
The Charlotte metro area will likely get rain and strong winds from an area of low pressure off the coast of the Carolinas.
- First Alert Monday: Rain & wind, flooding possible
- First Alert Tuesday: Rain likely, breezy
- Wednesday: Scattered showers, warmer
A low pressure area off the coast will slowly move inland over the next 24 hours, bringing rain from east to west across our area. Overnight, there will be more clouds, and there may be a few showers here and there.
Lows will be in the 60s. Rain will come through our area several times on Monday, off and on all day. Heavy rain and winds gusting up to 45 mph are both possible. In some places, this could cause floods and damage to trees and power lines.
As the low moves further north, the rain and strong winds will last into Tuesday. Things will start to get better in the afternoon on Tuesday. Monday and Tuesday’s highs will only reach the 70s because it will be cloudy and wet.
By Wednesday, drier air will start to move into the area, but it’s still possible that a few light showers will happen. The highs will reach the low to mid-80s on Wednesday afternoon, when there will be more sunshine. Thursday might have a stray shower, but other than that, the sky will be mostly cloudy, and the high temperature will be in the lower 80s.
On Friday, the clouds will break up and there will be a few showers in the afternoon. Highs will be in the upper 70s to lower 80s. Highs will be in the upper 70s and lower 80s next weekend. There will be some clouds during the day.
