The Greenville Jaycees were named the best chapter in the state in the Parade of Excellence and won five awards at the North Carolina Jaycees Mid-Year Awards Banquet in Emerald Isle.
“Our chapter has been able to do so much in the first half of 2024, and we hope to do even more for the greater Greenville area in the second half of the year,” said Melinda Sampson, president of the Greenville Jaycees.
“We are so proud of the people who won our awards and the event awards.” Members of our group work hard to help local companies and charities, and we do it with style, creativity, and commitment. When it comes to service and growth, the Greenville Jaycees are all for it.
We believe in the Greenville community and are proud to be a part of its growth. We are also proud to help groups that work to make people’s lives better. Being a part of such an important group is an honor and a joy.
For the Greetings from the Dominican Republic event they put together with Villa Verde, the social group won in the category for Local Growth and Development. This event was planned to work with a company that shares the Greenville Jaycees’ dedication to helping the community.
The #platformforgood in Villa Verde made it easy to find members and neighborhood volunteers. Claudia Ortega, who is Vice President of Community Development for the Greenville Jaycees, planned the event. For her work in the community on behalf of the chapter, Ortega also got the First Semester All-Star Vice President Award.
The group won in the category of Local Personal Skills Development for The Joy Project. This is a program that helps young workers in the chapter take care of their mental health by having them do self-evaluations and deep reflections every month.
Darrell Dozier, Vice President of Individual Development, is in charge of the program. Dozier was also given the First Semester All-Star Vice President Award for his work to improve the professional skills of the community and help them feel happier and more connected with each other.
The Jaycees’ First Semester All-Star Treasurer Award went to Jaret Varholick, Treasurer, for his hard work in making sure the chapter’s finances were in good shape and setting reasonable fundraising goals to help local nonprofits. Varholick is a key part of making sure that every event the Greenville Jaycees put on goes smoothly.
