North Carolina gets 2 new Wawa locations, more by year's end

On Thursday, the hugely popular convenience store chain Wawa opened two new stores in North Carolina.

Both shops opened in Wilson County, which is about 45 minutes east of Raleigh.

There are two Wawa stores in Wilson. One is on Raleigh Road Parkway West, which is right off of I-95, and the other is on Ward Boulevard, which is about two miles from the center of downtown Wilson.

The two stores in Wilson County are the second and third in the state for the business. The first one opened in May in Kill Devil Hills.

Wawa President Brian Schaller said, “We are excited to continue to grow into North Carolina and bring our unique mix of fresh food and drinks, convenience, and service to this state.”

“This double-header achievement shows that we are still growing and expanding in North Carolina, where we are opening new stores and making new jobs.”

Wawa wants to have nine stores open across North Carolina by the end of 2024. There won’t be any shops in Charlotte. After this year, Wawa wants to open 90 more shops over the next ten years.

People know Wawa for its hoagies, hot and cold drinks, baked goods, and more. It is based in Pennsylvania.
