A new early morning show called The Carolina Journal News Hour will air on WBT, which is owned by Urban One Charlotte and is on News Talk 1110 WBT-AM. Starting Monday, September 16, this live one-hour show will air during the week.
Nick Craig will host the show, which will talk about news, politics, and business happenings across the state that affect Charlotte and the rest of North Carolina. Craig used to be the morning host on Cumulus Media Wilmington’s WAAV-AM.
The Carolina Journal’s resources will be used by the show to give in-depth news and talk about important issues. There will also be local traffic updates, sports news, and weather forecasts in every show, so listeners will be well-informed to start the day.
Craig said, “I am so thrilled about the amazing chance to work with the John Locke Foundation/Carolina Journal and the famous WBT radio.”
Getting younger people interested in talk radio is not only something I’m personally passionate about, but it’s also an important step toward shaping the future of political debate. I’m excited to start this trip that will make political conversations better for years to come.
Editor-in-Chief of the Carolina Journal Donna King said, “This strong partnership will raise the level of public discourse in North Carolina to a whole new level.”
Carolina Journal and WBT have both been leading the way in journalism for a long time, giving people in North Carolina news and opinions that are based on facts.
Our groups’ combined resources make sure that listeners get up-to-date news and context that they can’t get anywhere else, whether it’s about politics, investigations, or public policy.
Mike Schaefer, Program Director of WBT, said, “The Carolina Journal News Hour on WBT with Nick Craig is the next step in WBT’s already great live and local lineup.
It will give our listeners the news, information, and analysis they’ve come to expect from us as they start the day.” I’m excited to hear what these two great teams have to offer every morning!”
