It’s time to vote, and North Carolina, which is a key battleground state, has one of the longest election windows in the country.
The first people to vote in North Carolina’s Nov. 5 election can do so by mail.

Before the 2024 North Carolina general election, here are some important events and due dates to keep in mind:
Important: The dates for military and foreign citizen voters to register to vote and vote absentee are different.
Oct. 11 (5 p.m.) is the last day to register to vote. How to Register to Vote (FAQ)
Oct. 17: Early voting starts in person, and you can register the same day.
Oct. 29 is the last day to receive an absentee ballot (5 p.m.).
Nov. 2: The last day to vote early in person is 3 p.m.
Thanksgiving Day, November 5
Nov. 5 (7:30 p.m.) is the last day to mail in an absentee vote.
