In Triad church speech, Hal Weatherman, who wants to be North Carolina's Lt. Governor, says that a day of reckoning is coming

It’s WGHP in RAMSEUR, N.C. At a church event over the weekend, the Republican candidate for North Carolina lieutenant governor spoke with a lot of emotion and rumors of plots.

Hal Weatherman, a Republican who used to be chief of staff for former Lt. Gov. Dan Forest and is now running for lieutenant governor, spoke at Parks Crossroads Church in Ramseur on Sunday about how North Carolinians aren’t ready for a “day of reckoning.”

Weatherman talked about why he likes to campaign at churches and talk to religious people in a video that was taken by a churchgoer and given to FOX8. He said that he and his family prayed before choosing to run for lieutenant governor.

“I’m a Christian conservative with a limited government,” he said. “That means I believe all levels of government are set by God.”

I really do. I believe that God set up all levels of government—federal, state, county, and local—so that we could live safe, stable, and well-ordered lives. Even if it’s just so the Gospel of Jesus Christ can be preached freely in this country.

Weatherman said that he thinks “ideologies like DEI or CRT or SEL” are dividing Americans and that the federal government is “the number one perpetrator” of this divide. These ideologies are diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, critical race theory, and social and emotional learning.

“I only have one thing to say: I don’t think our country will last four more years of what we’ve been living under,” he said. “I believe we are living in open, noticeable spiritual battle right now.”

It goes in the direction of good vs. evil. More physically fit guys from countries that want to kill us crossed the southern U.S. border last year than lived in six U.S. states put together.

A different picture can be seen in records from the United States Customs and Border Protection about interactions with foreigners by region. In the fiscal year of 2023, the U.S. met about 2.48 million people at the southwest border.

These people were of all ages, genders, family situations, and countries of citizenship. They were made up of 24,314 Chinese people and 43,210 Russian people. For comparison, Wyoming, with only 577,000 people, is the U.S. state with the fewest people.

Many thanks for your question. It’s hard to say where Weatherman got his information or numbers, and his team didn’t answer right away. However, these claims sound a lot like what former President Donald Trump and conspiracy theories like Alex Jones say.

The Associated Press said that Trump was wrong when he said that the big group of mostly Chinese people coming into the US through the southern border was like a Chinese government army.

According to interviews with the AP, Chinese migrants said they were running away from a hopeless economy and religious or political oppression. Most of the men who made the trip because it was so dangerous said they were men.

Weatherman said, “As a people, we’re kidding ourselves if we think that the next governor and lieutenant governor of this state won’t have to deal with what they’ll call… homegrown jihadi-based terrorism.” “It’s not from here at all.” We let it cross our southern border on its own and get into all of our states.

He said that having a constitutional Christian governor, lieutenant governor, and attorney general is the “last line of defense.” By “last line of defense,” he meant Republican candidate for governor Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, himself, and Dan Forest, who is running for state attorney general.

“This country is going to have to face the truth,” Weatherman said. “It’s coming.” It’s almost here.

Weatherman said that he wants his voters to be able to take care of themselves. He also spoke out against the focus on four-year colleges, saying that they are brainwashing people and leaving tradespeople out of work without any replacements.

If he were elected, he said he would use his job on the State Board of Education and the State Board of Community Colleges to get more people to learn skills.

He says this is to get ready for a “day of reckoning.”

“Remember, the day of reckoning is coming if what I say is true,” he told them. “Get your states ready to stand on their own in a dangerous world.” “I hope this makes sense.”

Weatherman talked about what he thinks of as “the world today.” He painted a bleak picture that made it sound like recent disasters may have been secret attacks on American grounds by enemies from other countries.

“All over our country, I see trains derailing while carrying strategic materials. These trains are derailing in key locations, which makes them weapons when they go off the tracks.” I hope you know this is going on.

“Barges are mysteriously hitting our bridges all over the country. This could be an attempt, a practice run to see how they could stop the country’s supply chain.”

“I see electrical substations being attacked in Moore County, which is in the middle of the state, if you didn’t know.” It’s interesting. When I talked to the sheriff about it afterward, he said, “You know what? They’re attacking the parts that we don’t have replacements for.”

He seems to be talking about the East Palestine train derailment and the Galveston, Texas, barge crash into a bridge, which were both found to be work-related accidents.

It was a planned attack that happened at the Moore County substation. But no one has been arrested to find out what happened or who did it.

It’s important to remember that the Department of Homeland Security warned of a greater threat to the electrical grid from domestic extremists. Since 2020, about 10 people suspected of having neo-Nazi ties have been arrested for allegedly planning similar attacks.

It was winter two years ago and there was a rolling dark, he said. “It was the first time in North Carolina’s history that electricity went out all at once.”

People from utilities told us that you not only had them, but they also expected to see them again in the future. When did that North Carolina thing take place? When did that take place in our state?”

The rolling blackouts in December 2022 were caused by bad weather and stress on Duke Energy’s system. The state’s handling of the situation was hampered by poor contact with customers.

“I can see our southern U.S. border falling apart,” Weathermen said. “I see people who don’t like us coming into all the states and across the country.”

It looks like lawlessness will spread across the state and into our big towns in the future. I see China buying our land for farming. I believe that people in this country are smart enough to understand that if China controls our food, then China rules us.

NPR says that China owns about 380,000 acres of farms in the United States. Most of this land comes from big companies like Smithfield Farms. The Cornell Chronicle said that China owns about 1% of all the land in the United States that is owned by a foreign country.

Three people were sentenced in connection with a neo-Nazi weapons plan. “Chinese-owned land makes up a very small portion of foreign-owned land in the United States.”

NPR says that Chinese owners and companies own a little more than 383,934 acres in the U.S. That’s less than the state of Rhode Island and a lot less than what Canada, the Netherlands, Italy, the U.K., and Germany each own.

Weatherman talks about the 2023 Chinese spy balloon episode near the end of his speech.

He said, “That day China was allowed to fire the spy ball over the great state of North Carolina was the last straw that broke the camel for me.”

“You all know that it flew over all of our military bases and all of our nuclear power plants.” It flew over all of our important assets. It was up to us as a people to do nothing; there was no leadership.

China says the spy balloon was just a weather balloon that got blown off course and was shot down off the coast of North Carolina. A report from NBC News said that several military officials said “the balloon was not able to transmit intelligence back to China while it was over the U.S.”

At the end of his speech, Weatherman said that he thinks North Carolina and the country as a whole lack vision right now and that he wants to help the next governor paint one.

“What does the Bible say about people who don’t have a goal?” What will happen to them? They are killed. I’m running for deputy governor to help the next governor of the state make plans for the state and then help the people of the state see them through.
