Find out which schools in your North Carolina district did the best in 2023–24

(News in Queens) — Data from the State Department of Public Instruction that came out last week shows that North Carolina students did better in most grades and courses in 2023–24.

The percentage of schools getting an A, B, or C keeps going up, while the percentage of schools getting a D or F goes down by almost two percentage points.

All end-of-course (EOC) and end-of-grade (EOG) tests from the 2023–24 school year were used to figure out how well students did in school.

A is for schools with scores between 85 and 100, B is for schools with scores between 70 and 84, C is for schools with scores between 55 and 69, D is for schools with scores between 40 and 54, and F is for schools with scores below 40.

Here’s how the schools in the Queen City News watching area did in North Carolina. In each area, we found the best elementary, middle, and high schools. For Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, the top three in each category are shown. It also draws attention to the school that has the highest growth number (out of 100).

Icons (*) show the schools that are the only ones for that grade level. There are no charter schools or specialty schools like “middle colleges” on this list.

With an average score of 72.3, Union County Public Schools had the best School Performance Score in the area. The top marks were 93 for Weddington High in the district and Providence High in Charlotte-Mecklenburg School.

To make it easy to compare, city-based districts like Kannapolis are listed below their county.
