Deadline for 2024 Service Academy Nominations Set

In Washington, D.C., Don Davis, D (NC-01), is happy to say that the application process for kids from North Carolina’s 1st Congressional District who want to be nominated for a U.S. military service academy this coming year has begun.

Congressman Don Davis said, “As a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy, I can say firsthand how valuable an education our military service academies provide.” People can help their country and improve their leadership skills at military service academies.

You can apply for a proposal to the Service Academy right now, and the deadline is October 31, 2024.

Students can also find out more about how to get into the service academy at the NC-01 Virtual Service Academy lecture on September 7. In the next few weeks, more details about that event will be made public.

Teenagers in high school who want to attend the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Air Force Academy, or the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy can fill out the candidate application. If a student wants to be nominated to one of these schools, they must first get a nomination. No one in Congress has to be nominated to go to the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.

Each year, congressional offices can only make a certain number of nominees, and the process is very competitive. Also, only a small percentage of kids who are nominated end up getting an appointment to go to an Academy.

Because there are so many talented applicants, the office of Congressman Don Davis has a competitive application process that looks at how involved candidates are in school, sports, extracurricular activities, and the community. Besides that, Congressman Davis’s Academy Nomination Board, which is made up of soldiers and community leaders, interviews every candidate.
