A poisonous Blue Sea Dragon has been seen off the coast of North Carolina

Along the coast of North Carolina, the Cape Hatteras National Seashore says people have seen a poisonous sea slug that looks like a small dragon.

Blue Sea Dragons are washing up on the shore of the Outer Banks, according to the National Seashore. Officials say the toxic animal can really hurt you.

The National Seashore says the tiny animal (it only gets about an inch long) eats poisonous animals and can store the poison it finds and use it to protect itself. The Portuguese man o’ war is their favorite meal.

Biologists say that Blue Sea Dragons live in the open ocean and move in groups called “blue fleets.” However, the sea slugs can get stuck on land after strong winds.

People at the beach are told to look at the animals from afar and not touch them, because they are still poisonous whether they are living or dead.
