In the United States, new SSDI payments are about to arrive for people who get Social Security and are qualified. People who have applied and been approved will be the only ones who can get these new checks and direct payments.
Naturally, staying eligible is important, and any changes in health must be reported. If not, it could lead to unwanted and uncomfortable overpayments. The 2025 COLA is not part of any of these SSDI payments. The new amount will be revealed on October 10, 2024.
Next new SSDI payment from October 1-8
The Social Security Administration has said that some people who get Disability Insurance will get money on October 3, 2024. You can only get any of these amounts on the third, though, if:
- You started collecting benefits before May 1997
- If you are receiving Social Security and Supplemental Security Income
- Did not break SSA rules
People who get SSDI can expect to get an average of $1,539 in their next payment on October 3. You might get a lot more if you make a lot of money. People with low incomes can get payments that are lower than normal, though. They might even be able to get Extra Help from the Government. Just so you know, SSI will be given out on October 1, 2024.
SSDI payments from October 9-26
Social Security Disability Insurance will pay out three more times after the October 3 check. People often call these “Wednesday checks.” You must have the right birthday to get to the first, second, or third round.
So, if you were born between the 1st and 10th of any month, your SSDI will be sent to you on October 9. If you were born after that date and get SSDI, you might get your money on October 16 or 23.
- Disability Insurance on October 16: birthday from 11-20
- Disability Insurance on October 23: birthday from 21-31
The most money that can be given out through Disability Insurance is $3,822, which is the highest amount. So, it’s a big payment, but very few people can get it because they can’t work for 35 years in jobs covered by SSA while making the taxable limit. This is because many people with disabilities can’t work.
